The world of entrepreneurship offers many different avenues of success and revenue to anyone willing to follow them. Sometimes those avenues are hidden in plain sight and can only be found by the truly enterprising entrepreneur. John Kevin Lawson’s entrepreneurial journey took him down one of these avenues, while his peers were out enjoying concerts and nightlife, Lawson was seeing the ways that, that nightlife could create wealth for him.
Lawson shares that he was working as a club promoter in Montreal when he saw the huge potential for revenue in the club scene, this he says is where his exploits as an entrepreneur truly began. Within his role as a promoter, Lawson made many important connections with internationally renowned artists, connections that he says would serve him well when he branched out
into event coordination. With his connections strengthened and his goal of becoming a successful entrepreneur within event coordination mapped out, Lawson enrolled in a course of study that specialized in the organization of events and shows. From there, Lawson founded his own digital event company; the ‘Johnk Agence’. Of his journey through the world of entrepreneurship that has ultimately led him to success, Lawson says, “Self-belief and determination can take you anywhere that you want to go in life, with a clear vision you will always reach your destination.”
John Kevin Lawson is now known for the Afrobeach and Afrocity events that he brought to life, and the different club nights that he has created throughout Montreal. Lawson has also gained prominence for his foundation; ‘PDE AFRQUE’ which provides opportunities for African entrepreneurs.
Every journey that an entrepreneur takes is an inspirational one but some journeys prove just how far believing in a vision can take you.
